The Pacific Theater is known as one of the deadliest days known to man and it all happen after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Japan has a series of victories during the mid- 1942 and had the goal to keep on winning. They had a lot of power that they were able to control over the majority of the Southern Asian and the Pacific Islands. On top of that, Japan kept going and was able to gain control of the Philippines in 1942. They killed about over 10,000 Filipino soldiers during the 65 mile Bataan Death March. Japan faced victory again, in the Battle of Coral Sea and Midway.
Now the United States realize that it is time for them to take a stand because thee attacks can not keep going on. From there they landed in Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands and victory was there's. They did not just get victory but they created something new from their actions and it was the start of the "island hopping" campaign. In the making of this campaign their ultimate intentions was to recapture the Japanese held islands which in this case they would move northwards towards Japan. Nimitz and Douglas MacArthur were engaged in the island hoping which lead to striking the enemy's at their weakest points. Now Nimitz crossed the central Pacific while MacArthur pushed along the New Guinea coast line. Both of them planned air raids and Japan lost 400 planes compare to the United States which only lost 30 planes. At that point, it seemed obvious who was in the lead and who can take the ultimate win. Furthermore, the British were pushing the Japanese back into Malaya ad Burma. Then Nimitz blockaded Japan and bombed the cities while McArthur decide to take control of the Philippines.
